Personal protective equipment was provided to health facilities in Kyrgyzstan / 22.04.2020

In order to support medical workers and in response to request from the administrations of several regions, CJSC «Kyrgyz Investment and Credit Bank» as part of Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) has donated free personal protective equipment (PPE) to several hospitals and medical institutions in Kyrgyzstan.

On April 20, 2020, the medical equipment, including a large consignment of coveralls, respiratory masks, protective goggles, medical gloves and other protective accessories, was transferred to Naryn region.

Earlier 500 sets of similar PPE were donated by the AKDN to medical facilities in Batken, Jalal-Abad and Osh Oblasts. «This personal protection equipment is essential for our doctors who are already using these supplies and we highly appreciate this assistance,»noted Mr. Talantbek Arstankulov, Chief Doctor, Osh Inter-Oblast Hospital. KICB, jointly with other AKDN agencies, also provided the disinfectants for the sanitisation and epidemiologic works in Jalal-Abad region.

Remarking on the assistance provided by AKDN agencies, Dr. Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, the AKDN Diplomatic Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic underlined: «We have decided to give the highest priority to protecting the valiant health professionals, many of whom have themselves been affected by COVID-19 in the line of duty. They are putting their lives on the line. I also want to compliment the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, at all levels, for its prompt and active response to contain the spread of the coronavirus.»
