Annual tree planting at the schools of Bishkek

Green Foundation, created by the initiative of KICB, supported by the AKDN, Kumtor Operating Company and International Public Foundation "Roza Otunbaeva Initiatives" has planted more than 2,600 of trees and bushes in 4 schools of Bishkek: ¹22, ¹30, ¹34, and ¹82. All the members of the "Green Foundation” carry out planting of trees and shrubs at schools sites, taking into account local conditions, recommendations of experts - ecologists and strong intention and desire of students, teachers to take care about seedlings.
Three specialized schools for disable children and 1 new secondary school in micro district «Ala-Too" were chosen in order to create a favorable climate at the school site, to improve the school sites, to develop sustainable system of environmental protection and to create equal opportunities. Students and teachers expressed strong intention to exercise appropriate care of the shrubs and trees. In 2014, the Foundation "Roza Otunbaeva Initiatives" together with ecologists conducted lectures for teachers in Bishkek on proper planting, including plant cultivation.
Protection of the environment by involving of the young generation in environmental issues is an integral part of the corporate philosophy of KICB.
The ceremony of tree planting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with the active participation of pupils and teachers. The members of the "Green Foundation" hope that each tree that was planted by the students will be their common concern and a real contribution to the greening not only schools, but also the city.

“Green Foundation” was created by KICB in 2012 to promote the campaign on tree planting and preservation of trees, with an aim of urban greening and to create favorable living conditions in the Kyrgyz Republic. KICB and its partners over the past 3 years has already planted more than 5200 seedlings of trees and bushes in Bishkek.
